St. Vincent de Paul grateful for Boy Scout project - Monday, February 22, 2010The St. Vincent de Paul Society would like to thank Coronado Boy Scout District on the Food for Scouting of America project to replenish local food banks and pantries. Collections of food donations were held Saturday, Feb. 6, between 9 a.m. and noon. The Scouts went to people's homes and collected contributions for the food pantries and food banks. They did it to help feed the hungry. Donated food items were nonperishable items such as canned foods and boxed items. read more ...

Friendship Bracelets to fill the Food Pantry - Phoenix, AZ - Monday, February 08, 2010 The Young Vincentians at Saints Simon and Jude Cathedral School in Phoenix, AZ, over the course of one month, made friendship bracelets in their school colors to sell during Catholic Schools Week in order to raise money for their St. Vincent de Paul pantry. In addition to that, they assigned each grade a food item to bring in to help stock the shelves. The bracelets were a hit and they sold out of them making over $250 dollars and filled the pantry!! It looks like it will become a school tradition!

New Youth Group - St. Louis, Mo - Wednesday, October 14, 2009Congratulations to St. Joan of Arc School in St. Louis, MO who began a new SVdP Youth Conference with the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year. The SVdP Club’s first activity was a prayer service in honor of St. Vincent de Paul on September 28th for the entire student body. The students responded with enthusiasm and listened attentively to Mr. Ryan Carney, Director of Membership, from the Archdiocesan Council Office in St. Louis. The goal of the student leaders is to develop service activities that will help the people of their parish and community. Two teachers, Mrs. Karen Mason and Mrs. Carolyn Landwehr are the adult leaders and spiritual advisors.

What a Great Way to Celebrate the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul! - Tuesday, September 22, 2009 The Immaculate Conception Conference in Montgomery City, MO purchased 150 coloring books of Frederic Ozanam. They will be distributing the coloring books to the young students in two schools in their area to celebrate the feast of St. Vincent de Paul. This is a start to help the young people know about the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam.

Now announcing the 2010 CCHD Multi-Media Youth Arts Contest! - Tuesday, May 12, 2009The Multi-Media Youth Arts Contest is an annual contest organized by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). It is designed as a tool for schools and parishes to engage Catholics in grades 7 through 12 in learning about the causes of poverty, Catholic social teaching, and CCHD.
The 2010 contest theme is: “Empowering Communities, Uprooting Poverty.”
Lesson plans and activities, contest information, and rules can be found at www.usccb.org/cchd/contestmaterials.shtml. Please note that all types of art (e.g. video, song, painting, acting, writing, etc.) are welcome! The attached flyer provides additional information.

The National Honor Society of Cor Jesu Academy had a food drive March 9-13th. - Friday, March 20, 2009The girls collected over 808 cans of food and $713.00 in cash.
